Console Table A console table is used as an accent table for displaying accessories or other decorative items in your living room. It is an excellent addition to your entryway into the living room and usually sits against a wall and may even be attached to the wall.

Purpose of a Console Table
Console tables are basically used in entryways which not only adds style and interest but also used for functional purpose. For example, it may be used to hold a small lamp to provide additional lighting in your entryway. It is also perfect for setting down mails, keys, a handbag, and other small and important items as you walk through the door so that you won't forget them while leaving your home. Some place a decorative mirror above a console table to check their appearance as they leave and also to give guests the opportunity to check their appearance as they arrive. Besides the entryway, console table can also be placed against a wall, used alone, or placed behind a sofa or love seat. It can also be used as a small sideboard or serving table.

Styles of Console Tables
Console tables come in different shapes, styles, materials and finishes. A console table may have only two legs in the front, and hence it should be secured to the wall. The console table may be long or short, may be round, square, or rectangular but it is generally narrow. Half moon or half round console table is a very popular style. Some console tables are available with built-in drawers. The tables vary from traditional style to antique to modern, sleek style. Some are available with plain designs while some others are available with intricate carvings as well as hand painting depicting excellent work of art.
