Settees 
A Settee is considered as a long
bench or medium-sized sofa with a back. A Settee comes as part of a
complete sofa set or can also be bought as a separate piece of
furniture. Whether it is a part of a complete set or a separate piece of
furniture depends on the size of the living room. A small living room
will look good with a single settee while a large living room will have
a complete sofa set with a settee which makes the living room look more
like a drawing room. However, the very existence of a settee in the
living room gives an attractive appearance of the entire decor of the
living room.
The frame of the settee is made of wood of various types like oak,
cherry, mahogany, teal, wicker, bamboo etc. The whole settee can be
upholstered with only the legs visible or only the back and the seat of
the settee is upholstered while the excellent craftsmanship is visible
in the nicely carved legs and the entire layer of the frame of the
settee. Different wood finishes give different look to the settee.
Settees of metal frames are also available which are highly ornamental
and available with intricate designs. Silver settees are also popular
but can be afforded by the rich sophisticated class of people.
Settees are made in victorian or traditional Indian styles or modern,
sleek styles carved with floral and various abstract designs. It is
always the back of the settee which is carved very intricately, offering
a luxurious and royal look.
